Engineering Professor Receives Wighton Fellowship
Professor Paul Jowlabar has been named the 2008 Wighton Fellow and the recipient of the 2008 Wighton Fellowship. The Wighton Fellowship is awarded annually in recognition of innovative, distinctive and exceptional instruction in relation to undergraduate engineering laboratory courses.

Dean Cristina Amon, Dean Emeritus Michael Charles, and Professor Alberto Leon-Garcia were awarded Engineering Institute of Canada Fellowships at the Institute's Annual Awards Banquet in Ottawa on Mar. 1, 2008 .... (more)

U of T Engineering Students Win Top Spots in OEC Competitions
U of T Engineering students fared extremely well at the Ontario Engineering Competition 2008, which was held at McMaster University, Feb. 8-10, 2008. In the Consulting Engineering competition, U of T Engineering students placed both first and second. The first place team included Godmans Chow, Tiffany Chow, Fan Gao and Ian Pereira; the second place team included Liane Catalfo, Vikram Pandit, Jennifer Sauks and Cody Wood.The students who took third place in the Innovative Design Competition were David Choy, Rouzbeh Rabiei and Lawrence Sun .... "Since 1920, there have been only 10 women graduates in RWDI Field TripEngineering; this year, there are 12 registered in Architecture, Engineering, and Applied Chemistry.”

In 2008, there are 272 female students registered in first-year studies; 216 registered in second-year; 204 registered in third-year; and 273 registered in fourth-year.
