“Girls have invaded the University of Toronto’s School of Applied Science with a rush," stated the Feb.10, 1940, issue of the Toronto Star. "Since 1920, there have been only 10 women graduates in Engineering; this year, there are 12 registered in Architecture, Engineering, and Applied Chemistry.” —Richard White, The Skule Story: The University of Toronto Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering 1873-2000. In 2008, there are 272 female students registered in first-year studies; 216 registered in second-year; 204 registered in third-year; and 273 registered in fourth-year. |
