Marina Blumin Marina develops the technology of device-ready quantum dots and quantum wires grown by Molecular Beam Epitaxy in the Centre for Advanced Nanotechnology - Canada's first centre for nanotechnology research. The role is familiar to Marina, since she worked in the Centre as a Post-Doctorate Fellow. Pamela Brittain Before assuming the position of Curriculum Specialist (K – 12 Programs) for the PDC in April, Pamela worked as the Centre Director for an Oxford Learning Centre in Mississauga. Working for the PDC, Pamela develops curriculum for the K – 12 Science Enrichment and Outreach programs offered by Engineering. Jennifer Fabro A 2006 U of T graduate of English and History, Jennifer has worked in customer service, marketing, writing, and telecommunications. Most recently, she worked for Virgin Mobile Canada. Jennifer joined the Faculty in Sept. Judy Gilligan Judy joined the Office of Advancement in July. Her responsibilities include attending to Iron Ring replacements, scheduling meetings, arranging travel, coordinating boardroom bookings and catering, preparing correspondence, greeting visitors at reception, receiving and answering inquiries from faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and volunteers, managing mass mailings, and more. Susan Iwasaki Student Recruitment and Transition Officer, Engineering Student Recruitment and Retention Office Susan began with the Faculty’s Science Outreach program in April and transitioned into the Engineering Student Recruitment and Retention Office at the end of July. As the Student Recruitment and Transition Officer, Susan focuses primarily on international recruitment and first year transition and retention efforts. Susan comes from a teaching background (senior level biology, chemistry, and math). For the past five years, she was a teacher in international schools in the Bahamas and China. Lorine Jung Jennifer Lancaster Jennifer's role is to identify, cultivate, and steward donors to the Annual Fund who have made gifts at the Leadership Giving Level. Previous to her position at U of T, she managed the Annual Giving Program for the Canadian Paraplegic Association Ontario. Jennifer joined the Faculty in Sept. Lindsay Mason Lindsay provides front-line support to students by responding to their general inquiries and offering guidance and advice. She is also responsible for processing course and timetable changes on ROSI and TA payments on HRIS. Before joining ECE in Aug., Lindsay worked as a Program Assistant in the Doctor of Pharmacy Program at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy. Phil Milczarek Phil is responsible for all purchasing aspects for the Department. He guides and services both staff and students with their purchasing needs, handles shipping and receiving duties, and acts as the liaison with Procurement Services. Before joining the ChemE team in Sept., Phil worked as a Senior Buyer for a telecom test equipment manufacturer called Consultronics Ltd. where he worked closely with the R&D team of Engineers.
Nicholas Robinson Before joining the Office of the Registrar in Aug., Nicholas was completing a HBSc degree at the University of Toronto, Mississauga (UTM). During his time at UTM, Nicholas worked for three years as a member of the residence life staff (two years as a Residence Don and one year as a Programming Assistant). Ayoola Scott Previously, Ayoola worked in the Business Office at Etobicoke General Hospital for seven years. She graduated from the Human Resources Management program at Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning earlier this year. Emma Scully As the Human Resources Generalist, PFS-HR, Emma provides a wide range of human resource advice and services to six of the professional Faculties at U of T. She assists clients with issues related to employee relations, labour relations, job evaluation, organizational design and development, recruitment, and selection.
Anna Vanek Reporting directly to the Chair of MIE, Anna is responsible for the coordination and management of the infrastructure required to support the Department's research and teaching activities. This involves ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive set of high quality administrative and technical support services. Before joining MIE, Anna worked as the Business Manager at the Terrence Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research. |
