Message from Dean, Cristina Amon

In our diverse and active Faculty, communication is vital to the success of our synergistic initiatives and effective work together. When I arrived at U of T Engineering just over two years ago, you provided valuable feedback on ways to share information across our Faculty. The introduction of this twice-monthly Engineering Newsletter last year resulted from that consultation. We continue to build and develop the Newsletter based on your feedback.

In fact, in our recent survey 75% of respondents indicated that it has increased their knowledge of the Faculty’s priorities and activities. The survey also resulted in the collection of potential themes for the Newsletter. We thank you for your responses and have begun to implement some of your suggestions, such as a new section for personal achievements. I encourage those who have not yet provided input to complete our survey. We would very much like to hear from you as we continue to build on the dialogue within the Faculty.

The Newsletter is just one vehicle for communication. In the Newsletter you will find notices of meetings, training sessions, announcements and more. In particular I draw your attention to the upcoming Faculty Council, the Town Hall with Undergraduate Students and our Engineering Events Calendar, all of which are venues for increased communication and engagement.

Traditionally late November is “crunch time” in most university communities and our Faculty is no exception. As the days become shorter and the weather colder, the pressure of deadlines builds. Please take a moment to read about the exciting happenings in our Engineering community. I send you my best wishes for continued successes in your work this term.
