Memories of March Break

By Barb Martin, Outreach Programs Manager,
Engineering Student Recruitment and Outreach Office

Over March Break (March 10-14, 2008), the Engineering Student Recruitment and Outreach Office held a one-week science and Engineering program called March Break Science Safari for grade 1-8 students at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.

March Break Science Safari is a day program that was established in 2006 to provide fun, encouraging, creative and safe experiences for students during March Break. Students are able to mix-and-match the topics that interest them, or take part in the entire Safari.

During the third year of this valuable initiative, a total of 134 students were exposed to a variety of themes, including biology and biotechnology, chemical creations, electrifying encounters and more. March Break Science Safari engaged the students in scientific discoveries, showing to them that University of Toronto is a dynamic place where they can explore the wonders of engineering, science and technology.
