Linda Espeut Wins the Agnes Kaneko Award

Linda Espeut, Operations Manager of the Master in Engineering in Telecommunications (MET) program in The Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is the 2008 recipient of the Agnes Kaneko Award.

Linda EspeutEvery year, the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering acknowledges the outstanding contributions of our Faculty’s administrative staff through the presentation of an award in memory of Agnes Kaneka who worked in the Department of Civil Engineering for 16 years.

“Linda has served her Department, the Faculty, and the University with distinction over the past 31 years,” said Dean Cristina Amon. “She is truly deserving of this year’s Agnes Kaneko Award.”

Linda joined the Department in 1977 as one of two secretaries in the Systems Control Group. She later became the sole support staff until she assumed the role of Operations Manager of the MET program in 1999 where she has directly contributed to the programs success and visibility in industry.

During the period when the Department transitioned to using computers in the 1980s, Linda was instrumental in assisting other administrative staff members learn how to use the systems. Today, she continues to make a significant impact on the operations of the Department and Faculty through her reliability, adaptability, and dedication.
