Summer 2015

A Message from Dean Cristina Amon

The Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering achieved a significant milestone on June 24 when we officially broke ground for the Centre for Engineering Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CEIE) — a building that will set a new standard for engineering education and research. Dean Cristina Amon
Located at the heart of the St. George campus, the new building will harness the boundless energy and creativity of our engineering community by fostering experiential learning and heightening opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration. It will offer space and facilities where students, researchers, alumni and industry partners will work together to get great ideas off the ground. It will also bring together the expertise and talents of our entire Faculty and the broader University to find innovative solutions to some of the world's greatest challenges.

The CEIE will enable us to continue to drive innovation, strengthen multidisciplinary research, nurture entrepreneurship and cultivate future global engineering leaders. I am deeply grateful to our alumni, donors, faculty, staff and students for their remarkable commitment and encouragement. I truly appreciate the dedication of the CEIE's Project Planning and Campaign Executive Committees, which feature many of our esteemed alumni and faculty members.

Together, our determination and leadership is building what will be one of the finest learning and research environments available at any engineering school in the world. I encourage you to explore the CEIE and photos from the celebration at uoft.me/CEIE.
