A Message from Dean Cristina AmonWith a new school year comes a renewed sense of excitement, but this year it is particularly special. The world has never needed more the innovation, invention and stewardship engineers can offer. Great challenges lie open to our best thinking and we must, as a profession and as individuals, step up to the opportunity and exert thoughtful leadership. I believe the kind of engineers U of T attracts and educates are extraordinarily well suited to the challenges that lie ahead: in health, sustainability, communications and energy. That is why I am so proud of the upcoming Afternoon of Engineering Innovation we will be highlighting in this issue. I invite you to attend and see the groundbreaking work we have done together – and our boundless potential. It is also an opportunity for you to learn more about our important fundraising effort as a cornerstone of U of T's Boundless campaign. Our Faculty is at a pivotal point, where strategic, targeted philanthropic support has the potential to build on our excellence, making us one of the world's very best Engineering Faculties. What better way to begin a new season of learning? Welcome back, and welcome to our opportunity to look forward, together, on September 15. |
