Engineering Alumni Hall of Distinction Award | Richard Venn | EngSci 7T3
In 1975, he completed his MBA from Harvard on scholarship. Richard then joined Wood Gundy as a member of the Corporate Finance Department in 1975 and became Chair and CEO in 1992. He is now Senior Executive Vice-President, Corporate Development for CIBC. In this role, he is responsible for identifying and developing strategic initiatives and joint ventures for CIBC, as well as leading strategic planning activities. In addition to his extensive professional responsibilities, Richard always finds time to give back to the community. He joined the United Way Toronto’s Board of Trustees in 1995, where he served as chair from 2005-2007. He served on Mount Sinai Hospital’s Foundation Board, and is an active member of the Research Committee and Chair of the Foundation Finance and Investment Committee. In addition, Richard sits on the Board and Executive Committee for the U.J.A. Federation and Chairs its Foundation. The U.J.A. Federation promotes better quality of life for Jewish people in Toronto, Israel, and around the world. Other accomplishments include:
Engineering Alumni Hall of Distinction Award The Hall of Distinction is an assembly of extraordinary alumni, with exceptional lifelong accomplishments. The careers of the Hall of Distinction members stand as examples and inspiration to successive generations of Engineering students. Located in the Sandford Fleming Building, the Hall is a familiar presence in the lives of students and is often visited by alumni and their families. |
