ECE Alumnus has GRADitude

The culminating event for fourth year students is only weeks away. Outside Skule™, this may mean Convocation. Within our engineering walls, that event is Iron Ring.

Alumnus Miro Forest (ECE 6T9) is a Warden of Camp 1 Iron Ring. Forest presented at the Iron Ring Information Sessions to fourth year Electrical and Computer Engineering students. Ryan Campbell, Chair of the 2010 GRADitude Campaign, also spoke to students, informing them of this year’s campaign.

Upon hearing about GRADitude, Miro offered to match all ECE student donations dollar-for-dollar. “I owe my success to Engineering at U of T for the fine education I received. This is my way of saying thank you”, said Miro. Faculty and staff are being asked to promote this matching opportunity to all ECE students to ensure that they know any gift they make will be doubled.

Student organizers believe that everyone has a role to play in maintaining the Faculty's ranking as number one in Canada and number eight in the world. Campbell, a fourth year student, is hoping to see 50 per cent of his class participate by June convocation with a donation of $20.10.

Miro would like to challenge his fellow alumni to: “Show these soon-to-be alumni the importance of giving back and that Engineering at U of T is something we’re all proud of!”

If you are interested in matching student contributions or know someone who would be, please contact Sonia De Buglio, Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, at 416-946-8143.
